Forgot My Password

I've been to the blog page a dozen times since the last time I blogged, I'd just forgotten my login and password so each time I got turned away. I just got lucky this time. Very cool to see Brandon doing the blog thing. It's good to see what's up in Texas.

It sounds like all the children are having children. Oh wait, I think I forgot to have children! Well I remembered to have a couple of Papillions and that's close enough to children for me.

I'm working Mamma Mia right now. The guy I trained is now training a new guy to do the paperwork so I've got some down time. Paula started school today. Yesterday she had me drive out to San Diego Stage and Lighting to pick up a couple of breakaway bottles for her first day of class in Theatre 100. I bet you wish you were taking that class! The department is trying to find a way to get her into a 500 seat classroom. That will be quite a production when she's lecturing there. She'll need a stage manager.

We just finished our run of Woody Guthrie's American Song for La Jolla Stage Company. It's a beautiful piece with gorgeous arrangements of his music and a healthy dose of his very stylized language. The kids did a very credible job with it too. We only had 4 performances--too bad, they were just really getting the hang of it.

Chicago is coming to the Big Theatre next. We just found out a couple of weeks ago that George Hamilton is going in as Billy Flynn. Apparently he's going into the Broadway show and he needs a few performances to get back into the character (he'd done a stint of it a year or so ago). I love that show but I've seen it so many times and with the likes of Ben Vereen , Patrick Swayze, and Chita Rivera. I'm still debating whether I ought to go see this one.

I'm hoping Paula and I can find the time to see this Mamma Mia that's in town this week. We saw it in London when it was first concieved but we've not seen it since. I'm thinking we should see it again as it might not return, or if it does it will likely not be soon. This run is likely NOT going to be hugely successful. (this is the 3rd time in 4 years its been in San Diego and the last two times were 2 week runs--I think this audience is saturated).

Oubliette has been rented for the past two months. That's nice for the $$ but I miss it so much I could cry. And while it was rented, the water heater died, which took most if not all the $$ anyway. I have these two shows back to back (Mamma Mia then Chicago) but then I have a couple of weeks before Camelot (with Lou Diamond Phillips) and we are going to go up for a 4 day extended weekend. Can't wait!!
