The First Blog
At last a little bit of time to try this blog thing. The Lion King is roaring loud. We are going clean (selling every single ticket) for every performance now and that's how it's going to be till they leave town. Everyone's making money so everyone's happy. And we are already selling out Wicked, and it's not coming until next July. When a show is a hit it's a hit all the way. So since we are in the middle of the biggest show we've ever done and the biggest presale, we thought it would be a good time to completely change our company structure, move our offices to a new location to a building we own (lots of new responsibilities with owning), and what the heck let's also add a whole new department, take on the most important part of the business for two other markets (LA and Tucson) and completely change our ticketting system. And guess who has to make it all happen?!
But hell I thrive under pressure. I've been doing a lot of thriving lately. So what have we been doing at home to relax from all this activity? Oh yes this would be a great time to redo our kitchen. My spare time is filled with sheet rock and dust. We are mostly eating out of boxes and cartons because we don't have a dishwasher or a sink. We were even bright enough to sell our refridgerator so I had to bring in the teenie fridge I had in my office so our milk wouldn't sour. But in all seriousness, this is going to be one heck of a kitchen. We have a great designer and we went full out on all our choices of materials and appliances. The nice thing is that it's going to wrap up and be done all about the same time. We do the actual move of offices on the 3rd weekend of January which is one week after Lion King closes and about a week or two before the kitchen is done. So come late Febuary, I'll be giggling in my Hot Tub with a glass of wine wondering what to do with myself. (yea right)
Right before we started demo on the kitchen, Paula and I were finishing up a redecorate project for our cabin in Idyllwild (website pending but here's the agency's)

because we were so bored. We call it Oubliette which means little place of forgetting. We hope to be doing a lot of forgetting there. It's so peaceful and serene there in the woods. And we can sleep more people there than we can in our house in San Diego. We've had a few guests at Oubliette but we hope to have more. Maybe even some family? Come and enjoy some peace and quiet in Idyllwild!
We also are enjoying our new Papillion pup named Elphaba. (That's the Wicked Witch of the West and boy does she live up to her name!) We'll be getting her a playmate next summer. I guess we've gotta name her Glinda.
That's enough for now. I built this blog originally for The Stage Co when I was with them but I never did anything about it. I guess I've got to see if I can change the name. Oh well, one miracle at a time.
