Growing so fast I can’t catch up!
Our subscription department had to hire 3 more people this week and I had to augment the infrastructure to accommodate them. We are bursting at the seams for space but at least I had the foresight to purchase fully scalable systems. Adding computers to the network or phones to the system costs money but it’s quite easy. I’m learning so much about Computer Server applications and how to make all this stuff work together. Its fun too as it requires, or at least it is greatly enhanced by a creative approach. I only wish it was as easy to add space. We are quite cramped.
We hosted the Ticketmaster VP of programming for the week as we are installing their new ticketing system (it’s called Archtics). We will be using it to service LA, SD and Tucson starting in a few weeks. It’s very exciting but there’s so much to learn and absorb. My department will be responsible for programming all the events for all three cities and at all the different venues. Luckily Ticketmaster does the first season for us, but after that it’s up to us.
The Kitchen is in. Well almost all in. There are bits and pieces that they are wrapping up and we still have a gaping hole where the back ordered refrigerator will go when it arrives (and when we find a creative way to pay for it). But the glory of a dishwasher and the sheer luxury of a sink are ours again. Not to mention the enhancement to your daily life that a mac daddy cooking range brings. They finished up the tile work today. They will be doing touchup and installing the baseboard on Monday. I’ve been promising pictures but I just haven’t had the time or energy to put it together quite yet. Soon.
Paula has been teaching Elderhostel for the past month straight. This is a program for retirees that want to take a class for a week to learn something specific and fun. Paula teaches the History of musical theatre and also teaches Operetta. She uses a bagful of video tapes to illustrate the lecture and the people absolutely love her animation and passion for the subject. I’ve finally got wise and bought a video digitizing program so I can reduce the bag of video tapes down to a single dvd. That should improve things (as soon as I get it all figured out and done).
It’s been bitter cold recently but today I grabbed my jacket at lunch time and went outside. It was so glorious I went right back in and put the jacket down. I’m so glad that the San Diego magic is settling back into place. The Hot Tub is calling me.
